Buyer Expeditor -6 Month Contract

Our client, a manufacturing company in the electronics industry is looking for a dynamic Buyer to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Procurement Manager.  
 
Key Responsibilities and Duties  
 
    • Place purchase orders on local and foreign suppliers
    • Assist Senior Buyer with faulty stock and component returns to suppliers
    • Assist Senior Buyer with expediting factory and branch shortages
    • Liaison with Planning Department any purchasing actions that may affect production
    • Branch Enquiries – Special Orders – Purchase Authority Process
    • Resolve all queries on purchase orders with Receiving Dept and suppliers.
    • Required to attend Supplier meetings
    • Other ad hoc procurement administration duties
    • Build relationships with approved suppliers   
    • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels according to our planning software
    • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management  
    • Component and Service Order processing
    • Assist Procurement & Planning Manager with BOM costing as and when requested
    • Place orders for forecast and ad hoc requirements as and when required
    • Placing and maintaining Purchase Orders
    • Expediting open orders according to demand requirements
    • Inform all relevant parties if delivery dates impact on production schedule or sales requirement
    • Assist in evaluation and prevention of excess and obsolete stock
    • Manage suppliers on time, in full
    • Preparing doc packs for Finance to process Landed costs
    • Monthly Reports for the Buying department – if required
    • Production queries related to BOM requirements  
    • Price change queries
    • Manage excess and obsolete inventory
    • Other tasks as required by Management from time to time
 
Essential Requirements
 
    • 3+ year’s Purchasing experience  
    • SAP Business One, LamaSoft Optimiza, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Understanding of electronic components
    • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word,)
    • Critical thinking and negotiation skills
    • Strong communication skills
    • Understanding Supply chain management
    • Negotiations skills
    • The successful individual should have at least 2 years of experience in either administrative functions, purchasing functions – preferably both
    • Must be computer literate – SAP experience beneficial
    • Excellent administrative skills
    • Knowledge of production processes/manufacturing principles
    • Have good interpersonal skills and excellent communication techniques  
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Fully competent and accurate with numerical duties
    • Be energetic and enthusiastic
    • Strong planning and organising ability with meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to interact with people at all levels – telephonically, electronically and in person
    • Decisive with excellent problem-solving skills
    • Trustworthy, strong work ethics and integrity
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • Must be able to put additional time in occasionally to ensure that the job is done
