Job Title: Research and Development: Electronics Manager
Job Purpose:
The primary objective of this position is to lead the technology strategy and innovation through the development of products within the organisation. The R&D Manager will support and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, draftsmen, software developers, and project managers to ensure organizational needs are achieved while managing both internal and external customer relationships and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the technical aspects of the company to ensure alignment with the company’s growth targets.
- Introduce and nurture a culture of innovation within the organisation while maintaining a long-term view on the use of technology for innovation.
- Work with stakeholders across the business, advocating for and distilling technical requirements.
- Structure and manage the R&D team to meet business goals, including hiring R&D personnel as required.
- Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Marketing and Operations.
- Lead and drive projects to support business goals through leadership and focus of the R&D team, individual project development teams, and individuals.
- Mentor, guide, and motivate the team to create sustainable depth within the department.
- Define new technologies, products, and processes.
- Identify and manage key suppliers/technology partners.
- Develop concepts, products, and solutions.
- Develop and monitor team metrics and objectives to ensure goals are met.
- Suggest training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
- Document all phases of New Project Introduction using the correct development procedures.
- Understand both internal & external customer expectations along with R&D team capabilities.
- Manage internal & external customer relationships and expectations.
- Establish and maintain IT systems to support business objective
Qualifications & Experience:
- S4 Diploma in Electronic Engineering, OR BSc Electronic Engineering, OR BSc Computer Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience within an R&D environment.
- Proven track record of previous results and improvements.
Experience in automotive and informatics technologies.
- Secure Cloud computing experience.
- Hands-on experience with complex project management.
