QUALITY MANAGER – Hospital in Ghana

Nursing position

• Degree or diploma in Hospital Administration, Nursing, Safety/Quality Management, Health Management or equivalent.  
• Management experience is advantageous

The person will assume responsibility for ensuring effective implementation, management and maintenance of the clinical governance framework, its pillars and related clinical governance standards, policies, processes, systems, guidelines & training.  The incumbent will drive compliance to the OHS Act, company/industry requirements and other applicable legislation, within the Hospital. Lastly, the incumbent will play a lead role in coordinating quality improvement initiatives, projects, and clinical quality statistics/reporting together with key members of the hospital management team, including HOD’s and Unit Managers.

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

• Oversee and collate quality improvement and risk reports quarterly
• Oversee and monitor all departments’ quality improvement programs which includes but not limited to;
• Conduct weekly clinical audits for all clinical departments
• Supervise patients’ documentation audit
• Organize weekly clinical meetings and discuss audit findings to guide the treatment process
• Develop, maintain and implement plans to achieve quality improvements goals
• Facilitate all quality improvement trainings
• Constantly be aware of work process problems or bottlenecks that prevent the achievement of goals, objectives and targets
• Take appropriate action in improving any process that will allow the reduction of cost and/or improvement to quality, service and productivity
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading publications on quality management, maintaining personal networks etc.
• Monitor own performance against agreed objectives and targets.
• To perform any other duties as may be assigned.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

• Assist management and leadership in the development, formulation, implementation, revision and maintenance of policies
• Monitoring compliance to policies and procedures through documentation and clinical audits

COHSASA (The Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa)

• Develop strategies to attain COHSASA accreditation within stipulated time.
• Oversee survey assessments in the COHSASA software and meet deadlines.

ADMINISTRATION

• Assist in organizing committee meeting i.e., Drug and therapeutic committee, Resuscitation    Committee, Multi-disciplinary theatre committee and document the minutes.

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY

• Operate within determined limits of authority in the achievement of the strategic plan and any other agreed goals and objectives as approved by the CEO

• At least one year experience in quality management in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of government Legislations and policies are essential
• Sound knowledge on the concepts of quality in healthcare
• Excellent understanding of quality management processes
• Proficiency in hospital quality management policies and protocols
• Understanding private healthcare industry, its challenges and the key role players
• Proficiency in MS Office (excel, word, power point)
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of intra and inter-facility staff and administration using both verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
