A Clinic in the heart of Namibia is looking for volunteer doctors to work 8-5 weekdays only. The Clinic provides primary healthcare services and emergency pre-hospital care to the local San Population in a remote and rural setting. It runs outreach clinics to attend to those living further afield on farms and re-settlement villages. Volunteer doctors can continue with implemented research projects, propose new research projects and build on or upgrade the research techniques currently being utilized. The doctor will be mainly responsible for treating patients typically afflicted by TB, malnutrition, HIV, fungal infections, intestinal worms, diarrhoea, dehydration and respiratory infections. Natural deliveries and minor operations are performed when necessary in an emergency.
Suitable candidate will need to be available to volunteer for a minimum of 6 months up to two years. They will be paid a stipend of approximately R12 000 per month and provided with accommodation. A car is available to use for work purposes.
There are no on call duties over the weekend (unless there is an emergency and the doctor is available to assist). 50% of medical aid will be paid by the Clinic.
The costs incurred by the suitable doctor will be the £86 for the visa and their flight to Windhoek and professional medical indemnity insurance. If you can keep your SA indemnity insurance then do this. There is another one that can be obtained from Saepio Expedition Medic Insurance and costs about £243 for 3 months.
Let me know if you would like to pursue this option. The registration and visa will take about 2-3 months to obtain and then you can start.
